FAQ

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a design sprint-like event where you create a product in under one week that addresses a problem facing your community or the world. The project you create can be in any form: a computer game, a mobile app, a simple website, or any medium you’d like to use to express your idea. It’s super open-ended, with a general focus on solving a problem or addressing a need. Check out our winner's page to get an idea of what past project have been like.

How do I submit my project?

I don't have any experience?

The beauty of our event is that you need zero programming experience to participate. It may be hard to believe, but from our past experience, the most successful projects have not been successful because of previous programming experience or skills—rather, their success depended on creative thinking about how technology can be used to solve the world’s problems. We will have a real-time platform that connects students with industry experts to help solve and debug any issues you may be facing with your projects.

How much does it cost?

A total sum of exactly zero. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, this event is free for everyone!

Projects will be submitted via a 2-minute video at the end of the week and then judged by a panel of top VCs and entrepreneurs.

What do I need to participate?

You need a laptop in order to participate.
